Hope you’re off to a great start to the day. I have never said, “hello gorgeous” before, but I think I’ll start. After all it’s been a “trendy” saying over the last few years. In my mind I hear Humphrey Bogart’s voice…”Hello Gorgeous!”
Today’s post is about things that I’m really digging lately. I just got back in town after a weeks travel to the west coast, where I had the honor to attend a family reunion with my 95 year old grandmother. She is now the oldest living person on her side of the family. There is no one on earth like this woman. I’ll plan on writing a feature blog post all about her in the future. I have learned so much from my kind and good hearted grandmother. The world would be a much better place with more women like her in it.
What I’m digging lately…
My morning ritual: Every night that I go to bed I look forward to waking up in the morning and starting my day. I have started a somewhat new routine or ritual and I’m really into it. I get up before anyone else is awake, pour myself a cup of coffee and sit on my rooftop patio. As I sip my coffee I listen to the world around me. If my mind starts to race with thoughts, I close my eyes and just focus on my breathing and continue to listen. It’s as though the world is waking up with me. Birds chirping, cars starting, people walking their dogs. There is something magical about being outside first thing in the morning. Sometimes I pray. Sometimes I try to organize my thoughts for the day. After my first cup of coffee I roll out my yoga mat and get some morning movement in before I go about my day. Even if it’s only for ten minutes, I just move my body. I do a mix of pilates, yoga, and some type of rolling mayofascial release.
My evening ritual: I, for some reason, got out of the habit of my face care regimen. I usually wash my face but I haven’t been adding any creams or oils. So I have started using vitamin C serum in addition to a protein cream after I wash my face. All products can be found here. I also enjoy using this hand cream before bed. This evening ritual makes me like a woman of the 1950’s. Haha!
Before I lay down at night I spray my favorite yoga mist in the room (link below) and then listen to a mediation app. I usually fall asleep within the first five minutes of listening.
Yoga Mist:. OMG this smells so good!!!! I only wished the smell lasted longer. I am constantly spraying this fragrance around the house. I immediately feel a stress release when I do. Bob feels the same way. I got mine at Wegman’s but you can buy it anywhere.
Essential Oil Diffuser: I absolutely adore my oil diffuser. I have been adding sandalwood essential oil to mine, which smells so comforting to me. I love the glowing changing light on the bottom of the diffuser. I bought my oil diffuser at Full Heart Soulutions in down town Bel Air, MD. However, I have attached a link of the 5 best ones. So you can order online if you like. The only downside is that the oil I bought didn’t even last a week and it’s a little pricey.
My Dogs- I can’t get enough of them. Abby has been so much more playful since we brought Lou home. Don’t get me wrong she is still her lazy self. Eating, sleeping and repeating but she has a few moments a day where she becomes very playful with Lou. Lou is my shadow. He is under my feet wherever I go. When I teach pilates, we can sometimes here him howling for me upstairs. I snapped a quick picture of him today as he insisted on doing yoga with me.
Coffee Mug– The other day I came home and found this sitting on my counter with a note from my husband. He totally gets me.
My husband- We have been married almost 19 years. Like any couple we have our ups and downs, but we are best friends and no one understands me more than he does. Same goes for him. Sometimes I think I know him better than he knows himself. There isn’t a secret to staying married as long as we have and we still have a lot to learn about each other and marriage, but if I was asked to describe three words that make a marriage work; at this time in my life I would say commitment, flexibility, and forgiveness. This is a blog post for another time and I don’t want to put any thoughts into your head. This is what works for my marriage, everyone is different. As far as the forgiveness statement goes- I’m not talking about the 3 As (abuse, addiction, affairs) I’m referencing just little daily occurrences that can happen when you share a life together. Like forgetting to do a chore that was asked, or when one person gets a little snappy, you forgive them because perhaps they were hungry and they don’t mean the things they say while in a state of hunger. LOL!!! PS. We just started reading the 5 Love Languages. It’s awesome! Yes, I know it’s been out for a long time, but I didn’t have any interest in it until recently.
These shoes– If you want to know what if feels like to walk on clouds, then you should try these Nike FREE RN shoes.
And these shoes!!- I bought these at DSW, at this moment they are packed in my suitcase, but if you like them, shoot me a message or leave a comment in the section below and I will be happy to share the brand name.
I’m also digging these pants– Kind of trendy, but I like them. Found them at Target.
Rose Gold- I had just a touch added to my high lights when I got my hair done last week.
Newberry Bakery– Oh and I almost forgot! Bel Air got a really pretty new bakery. Bob and I checked it out last weekend and they are open on Sunday! It’s super cute. We shared this cream donut and sipped on ice-coffee. It made for a brilliant date! They are having their grand opening Aug. 11 starting at 10 am.
