So here we are, Thanksgiving is past, Black Friday is over and Small Business Saturday is done. You may have completed your Christmas shopping for the year; however, if you are in the market for a fitness gift for yourself or a loved one, here are a few of my favorites. You may find some online, while others are local.
Kettlebulls– If you haven’t heard about our kickstarter for our KETTLEBULL business, you can check it out here. Shape.com recently published an article all about KETTLEBULLS. If you like dogs, and /or fitness, this can be a fun new toy to add to your workout selection. The best part is this product is American made, and once the product is launched a portion of the proceeds will go to Barbell for Bullies. A non-profit organization that advocates for all bully breed dogs.
Pilates anytime– As a pilates instructor, I sometimes just want to take someone else’s class without actually having to leave my home. I have been following pilatesanytime.com for years now. I love the convenience of taking a class anywhere anytime. Sometimes I do my own thing, but when I just want someone to tell me what to do, pilatesanytime takes the thinking out of it for me. You can try it free for 14 days. The site offers classes for all levels.
RP Female Physique Training and Nutrition plan- If you are looking to change it up in the gym and really want to focus on building lean muscle this is a really great program. This program is best for people who have the time to train in a gym. There are a lot of reps and sets, so one session could take up to two hours. If you have the discipline and time, then you are sure to get results.
Vital Proteins Collagen– I add a scoop to my coffee every morning. There are so many benefits to adding collagen to your daily nutrition; such as: glowing skin, joint health, tendon and bone strength, gut health, and better digestion, just to name a few. *** Note that collagen is not a complete source of protein, so you will want to continue eating enough forms of other protein sources (such as chicken, fish, eggs, beef, even whey and/or casein powders). Vital Proteins is now offering a collagen creamer. I purchased vanilla. It’s dairy free, soy free, gluten free and doesn’t have any artificial sweeteners or added sugar.
Local- (Harford county Maryland)
I have lived in many places and being in the fitness industry for over a decade I have seen a lot of fitness trends come and go. One of the things I was bummed about when I moved to Harford County was the lack of specialty classes offered. At the time I moved here there were only globo gyms. Some of the gyms offered good specialty classes with educated instructors, but to be honest most offered classes that had instructors who had no clue of what they were doing. So I am very pleased to see our community growing with private small business.
Just Me Jenn B Personal Training/ Small Group Training– Okay, I am going to shamelessly promote my business here. I do offer reasonably priced (very reasonably priced) personal training and small group training. I love what I do, and I bring passion and purpose to my clients. I focus on building the four pillars of health – Mindset, Fitness, Sleep and Nutrition. We must learn to build on all four components of health or else something will suffer. With baby steps and a loyal trainer you will learn how to achieve a better quality of life. Email me and let me know you saw this blog post and I will give you 20% off of your first 4 sessions.
True Cycle- If you like cardio and or spinning, you should totally check out True Cycle. It’s a fun class and their facility is pretty fancy. It’s definitely worth a ride. The instructors are smart and they always make classes fun and inviting. **Side note: [If you are one who does cardio all the time, please be kinder to your body and balance it with rest, strength training and mobility. Constant cardio does a lot of damage to your bodies health and hormones. So be smart and find balance.]
Peace Yoga- There are a lot of yoga places sprouting up in Harford County. To be fair I have only tried Peace Yoga and Yoga Centric here in Bel Air. I like both. I really do! They offer something different to the community. However, Peace Yoga is more authentic to me. I really enjoy a small class when doing mind/body work. Heather is the owner and one of my favorite yoga teachers. Check out their website to sign up for a class or better yet purchase a gift card as a stocking stuffer.
The Y in Abingdon- If you are looking for a gym that is affordable and places an emphasis on building a better community, you should check out the Y in Abingdon. Family friendly, clean facility, and a decent size fitness floor. Plus they offer child care and of course they have a pool!
You might wonder why I would promote other gyms or fitness centers when I have a home studio and offer classes and training myself. Here’s the answer, fitness and health shouldn’t be about one person, one kind of exercise or training model. It should be about community and health and building people up. I believe in helping people better their quality of life. I offer a different more personal kind of service and the facilities mentioned above help to enhance a better lifestyle to our community. I am not sponsored, nor do I have an endorsement or get any kickbacks by any of the above products or businesses. These are just my honest and humble opinions. I only support products and businesses that I have personally tried and believe in.
